The Plitviče Lakes National Park is the oldest and most famous Croatian national park included in the UNESCO world heritage list with a 295km² forest reserve in central Croatia. It's known for a chain of lakes, connected to waterfalls, which culminate in a limestone canyon.
The whole Dubrovnik region is well-known for its fascinating landscapes, abundant Mediterranean vegetation, mild climate and interesting smaller settlements. In former times, it became part of the Dubrovnik Republic territory, becoming connected with the city via historical, economic and trade route ties. In tourism, it is now called the Dubrovnik Riviera.
